12.17.99

One day this past semester, maybe about 6 weeks ago or so, I went to see one of my professors to discuss my paper. After going over my mish-mash of a paper, we had a few minutes to chit-chat. Somehow, the conversation turned to the Audrey Hepburn lookalike in our class; actually, she looks more like Natalie Portman than the lovely Audrey, but it's close enough. When I said something about this girl looking like Audrey, my professor smiled and announced, "Well, you look like Gene Simmons!"

Now, this was incredibly insulting; you just don't tell somebody that she looks like the long-tongued weirdo from KISS. I became quite indignant: "That's an incredibly rude thing to say!" I told my professor. Hmph!

Only later, and too late to save myself from looking like an ass, did I discover something:

This is Gene Simmons.
On a good day, mind you.
You can see why I'd be upset.
Now scroll...

And THIS is Jean Simmons, a movie star from the fifties.
THIS is who my professor was talking about.

Oops.
